Description: Cache Beauty sells products using Amazon.com and other websites. Previously, Cache Beauty maintained product information for their Amazon store by hand as a separate copy from their main product database. This created duplicate work and required a dedicated staff member. Because Amazon tracks inventory internally, sales of products occasionally depleted the inventory stated to Amazon. When that happens, Amazon does not show the product until the inventory is updated. In addition, if a product was backordered, Cache Beauty had to temporarily remove it from Amazon. These situations negatively impacted sales because search results on Amazon list products by sales volume. As a product loses sales, it also loses visibility. The negative impact persists even after a product is restored. To combat these problems, we integrated Cache Beauty's back-end systems directly with Amazon. With this integration, their main product database drives their Amazon store without the need for human intervention. They no longer maintain a separate copy of their product data, products do not lose visibility unnecessarily, and they moved the dedicated staff member to more beneficial tasks. In addition, we built a function to allow customers to purchase backordered products and created methodologies for Cache Beauty to capture sales from other merchants. These systems grew CacheBeauty's Amazon revenues to 300% of previous levels while reducing their operating costs.
